The Candy Cane Coral (Caulastrea furcata sp.) is an LPS coral that is vibrant and "jolly," hence the name. It is relatively hardy and easy to care for, and only requires moderate lighting and water movement. Additionally, it has short sweeper tentacles, unlike most other LPS, so it is safe to put candy canes closer to other corals. All of these above make candy cane corals excellent for any reef aquarium, and also make perfect beginner LPS corals for newcomers to the reef aquarium hobby.
